I can see Christmas from my house

I have a manila folder where I keep a list of addresses for Christmas cards. It becomes my de facto Christmas Planning Center every year. I throw in address change cards, ideas for neighbor Christmas gifts and my official, annual Christmas List. I make one every year, a simple table with two columns: on the left the receipient, on the right the potential gift. It starts out neat and clean with one fancy font up top. Over the course of the season the list gets marked up and crossed off.

I've inadvertently kept the Christmas List from our last few years, since 2008. That year, these were the items on my list for the boys: Lego, light saber kit, video game, bike/trike, light saber, Leapster. In 2009 the list for the boys looked like this: Nano, Lego set, CTR ring, iTunes card, DS, bookmark, Lego Set, Batman, Lego Set. In 2010, the list was: Millsap jersey, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Lego Set (3).

Guess what's on my list this year? Exactly. the. same. stuff. It's kind of killing me. Just for kicks I've decided that I'm not buying any Lego sets. Enough with the Legos already. The requests are in for a basketball jersey, video games, and a CTR ring. I guess I'll be buying the same dozen items for at least the next ten years or so.

And someday I'll miss all the time I spend in the blue toy aisles when Christmas shopping was so easy.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope your pink or blue preparations are going well.
